I’m a proud mum of four, Grandmother of one, and passionate about helping people heal from trauma.

My journey into therapy began when I received counselling myself in my late twenties. Experiencing the life-changing impact of therapy inspired me to help others find that same hope and healing.

Soon afterwards, I began working as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant in a secondary school. Every day, I worked alongside young people who were struggling with challenging behaviour, overwhelming emotions and difficult life experiences. I realised that behind the behaviour was often emotional pain, and I became passionate about helping young people understand and regulate their emotions rather than simply manage their behaviour.

That experience led me to train as a counsellor, with one clear goal—to return to schools and support young people aged 11 to 16 who were facing emotional and mental health challenges.

After qualifying, I established my own private practice while also fulfilling my ambition of working as a school counsellor. It was during this time that I recognised many of the young people and adults I was supporting had experienced significant trauma. I understood that traditional talking therapy, although incredibly valuable, isn’t always enough when someone has experienced traumatic events. In fact, asking someone to repeatedly talk about their trauma can sometimes leave them feeling even more overwhelmed.

Wanting to provide the most effective support possible, I trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I am now fully qualified in EMDR and have seen first-hand how powerful this evidence-based therapy can be in helping people recover from PTSD, complex trauma and the lasting effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

By the end of 2026 I will also be a qualified Master in NLP. I have maintained CPD throughout my 20 years as a counsellor, always aiming to improve my expertise and knowledge to be the best in my field.
