Vitamin Injections
At the Health Recovery Clinic, vitamin injections are prescribed and clinically administered by our qualified practitioner Angie as part of an integrated approach to health and recovery.
Intramuscular and intravenous delivery bypasses the gastrointestinal tract, achieving significantly higher bioavailability than oral supplementation, making injectable micronutrients a clinically effective option for patients with confirmed or suspected deficiency, malabsorption conditions, or chronic illness.
All treatments begin with a clinical consultation with our medical prescriber. Your practitioner will review your symptoms, medical history, and any relevant test results before recommending an appropriate treatment protocol. Once prescribed an appointment can be booked with Angie to administer your personalised vitamin injections. These can be booked as a course or one off injection.
Vitamin B12 Injection
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential water-soluble vitamin that plays a fundamental role in neurological function, red blood cell production, and DNA synthesis. Deficiency is more common than many people realise — particularly in those following plant-based diets, individuals with gastrointestinal conditions affecting absorption, and older adults. Intramuscular B12 injections bypass the digestive tract entirely, ensuring full bioavailability where oral supplementation may be insufficient or ineffective.
These injections are prescribed and clinically administered at the Health Recovery Clinic.
Clinical Benefits:
- Supports red blood cell formation and helps prevent megaloblastic anaemia
- Essential for neurological function and nerve tissue health
- Plays a key role in DNA synthesis and cell metabolism
- Supports cognitive function, concentration, and mood regulation
- Assists in the conversion of homocysteine, supporting cardiovascular health
- Helps address fatigue and weakness associated with B12 deficiency
For patients presenting with deficiency, a loading protocol is typically recommended: weekly injections for three weeks, followed by monthly injections for three months, then a maintenance injection every three months. Your practitioner will assess your individual needs and advise accordingly.
Single Injection: £55 | Course of 6: £200
FAQs
Can I overdose with B12 injections?
No, your body will only store what it needs and the excess is be excreted out of the body naturally.
Is the injection painful?
It can be a little unpleasant, but it is over within less than a minute.
What do I do if, after the Consultation/Medical, you are unsure that your symptoms are serious? Should you still administer the B12 injection?
No you would give them the advice to go see their GP as we cannot replace the role of a doctor as they may need some investigations.
Do I need to have a blood test prior to prove B12 deficiency?
No not at all, as you cannot overdose them there is no reason that they should.
When will I feel the effects of the B12 injection?
It can take up to a week, but normally they feel the benefits after a couple of days.
Do I need to get B12 on prescription?
Although B12 is not solely a Prescription Only Medicine (POM). It can be given via the NHS or privately.
What is a single dose of B12 injection?
The ampules you require are 1ml/mg.
Do B12 injections work for everyone?
If your client does not feel the effects after 2 – 3 injections, then it is more than likely that they are not B12 deficient.
How often can I have a B12 injection?
GPs will normally give their patients B12 injections every 12 weeks, but normally the effects will wear off before this time. As a result the patient is left feeling sluggish and run down. There is no reason to have them more regularly if your client requires it, as normally the average time between a client needing another is after 6 weeks but some people even less, after 4 weeks.
Can I have loading doses?
Yes you can, a client can come to you for an injection every week, until they start to feel the benefits. Although after 4 to 6 injections if they do not feel any benefits then there is a possibility that the B12 is more than likely not going to be effective.
Can I have a double dose in one injection?
No as the body needs to absorb the single dose of B12 first.
Are there any side effects from B12?
Normally no, apart from an achy muscle at the injection site, which normally does not last for more than an hour or so. If any other adverse side effects are experienced; such as dizziness, sickness or diarrhoea, then it is more than likely that B12 is unsuitable for your client, although this is extremely rare. If the symptoms persist, sign post them to their GP.
I’m pregnant, can I have a B12 injection?
Although it is completely safe for pregnant woman to have a B12 injections, we do need written consent by a General Practitioner GP.
What is the cost of a B12 injection?
The cost is £35 for a single injection. Or bought in a bundle of 6 injections at £180, then works out to be £30 each.
How long do B12 injections last?
The effects of our injections vary between individuals.
Can B12 injections help you lose weight?
Some weight-loss clinics offer vitamin B12 injections as part of their weight-loss program. Proponents of vitamin B12 injections say the shots give you more energy and boost your metabolism, helping you shed unwanted pounds. Predominantly this is a wellbeing treatment.
Are there any side effects?
The Vitamin B12 injection is generally very safe. However, some people may experience some pain, swelling or redness at the injection site, and in much rarer cases headaches, itching or nausea. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen please contact your GP or 111.
Vitamin C Injection
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is an essential micronutrient and potent antioxidant that the body cannot synthesise independently. It is integral to collagen biosynthesis, immune function, and the neutralisation of free radicals. Research suggests that intramuscular delivery achieves significantly higher plasma concentrations than oral supplementation, making injectable Vitamin C a clinically effective option for patients with deficiency, compromised immune function, or chronic fatigue.
These injections are prescribed and clinically administered at the Health Recovery Clinic.
Clinical Benefits:
- Supports immune system function and resilience against infection
- Essential for collagen synthesis and connective tissue repair
- Acts as a potent antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative damage
- Supports neurotransmitter production and cognitive function
- Enhances absorption of non-haem iron
May help reduce the duration and severity of fatigue
Injectable Vitamin C bypasses gastrointestinal absorption limitations, delivering higher concentrations directly into the bloodstream. This is particularly beneficial for patients with digestive conditions or those who experience gastrointestinal intolerance to oral supplements.
Single Injection: £55 | Course of 6: £200
Vitamin D Injection
Vitamin D (calciferol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that functions as a hormone precursor, influencing over 200 genes in the body. It is critical for calcium and phosphate regulation, musculoskeletal health, immune modulation, and neurological function.
Deficiency is widespread in the UK due to limited sunlight exposure, and is particularly prevalent in those with chronic illness, darker skin tones, or conditions affecting fat absorption. Intramuscular injection provides a reliable and clinically effective route for restoring and maintaining adequate levels.
Clinical Benefits:
- Regulates calcium and phosphate metabolism for bone and muscle health
- Supports immune system modulation and reduces susceptibility to infection
- Associated with improved mood and reduced risk of seasonal affective symptoms
- May help reduce systemic inflammation
Supports neuromuscular function - Effective for patients with malabsorption conditions or persistent oral supplementation failure
A blood test can be arranged to confirm deficiency prior to treatment, though this is not always required. Your practitioner will review your symptoms, health history, and any existing test results to determine the most appropriate treatment protocol.
Single Injection: £80 | Course of 2: £140

Glutathione Injection
Glutathione is a tripeptide antioxidant produced naturally within the body, composed of glutamine, glycine, and cysteine. It plays a central role in cellular detoxification, the neutralisation of reactive oxygen species, and the regeneration of other antioxidants including Vitamins C and E. Levels naturally decline with age, chronic illness, and prolonged oxidative stress.
Also many people with chronic conditions such as ME/CFS don’t make glutathione effectively for genetic reasons. Injectable glutathione bypasses poor oral bioavailability, delivering the compound directly into the bloodstream for maximum therapeutic effect.
Clinical Benefits:
- Central role in hepatic detoxification and elimination of harmful compounds
- Neutralises free radicals and reduces oxidative stress at a cellular level
- Supports and modulates immune system function
- Regenerates Vitamins C and E, amplifying antioxidant activity
